The burgundy rubber plant is a selected cultivar of Ficus elastica. The plant is known for its prolific fleshy burgundy leaves. 
 
Can be grown in relatively low light levels indoors, though best kept near a big window where it can get some direct sun, or at least bright light.
 
BEWARE: If planting this tree in the ground, Ficus elastica will grow into a large canopy tree, and is usually quite fast-growing. Make sure it is given plenty of space. It's a beautiful tree, but make sure its planted in the right spot. Or just keep in pots!
